The Pear shape dress

Women that fit in the pear shape category have a feminine figure with a small upper body compared to a broader lower body.

Therefore the perfect dress for a pear shape should emphasise your slimmer arms, waist and legs and flatter your hips, bottom and upper legs - just like this basic, fit and flare style.

Waist fitted dresses with a slightly loose A-line skirt, that covers the upper legs and shows off the waist are the perfect choice for you.

The Rectangle shape dress

If you’re a rectangle you have a straight silhouette with shoulders and hips equal lengths apart and a minimal waist. There’s no need to balance out any proportions, but you might want to accentuate your middle a little bit.

The key in dressing the rectangular figure in a flattering way is dressing in clean, straight or asymmetric lines - just like this dress that that boasts flattering seams and a sleek, playful collar.

The designers have placed the panel seam in such way that it perfectly accentuates the rectangle silhouette in a slightly figure-hugging fit.

The Oval shape dress

As an oval shape, you have slimmer legs, ankles, wrists and smaller shoulders, while the widest parts of your body are your tummy and bust.

The biggest no-go is to try to hide your figure under wide and loose fit clothing. Your perfect dress should draw the attention away from your midsection and focus it on the more shapely parts of your body. Show off your flattering, beautiful legs and your dazzling decollete.

With this dress your smaller upper body will be highlighted while the wider fit around the midsection will conceal your stomach. It has a feminine appeal and shows off your knees, calves and ankles.

The Strawberry shape dress

The strawberry shape is a wider upper body with fuller arms, big bust, smaller hips and slimmer legs. Your goal is to balance your figure by accentuating your bottom half.

Your perfect dress is the wrap dress. Wrap dresses or optical wrap dresses are a secret weapon for figures with a fuller upper body or broader shoulders. Why? Because of the elongating neckline that makes your chest seem longer instead of wider and by showcasing your decollete in a feminine, elegant way. In addition, looser and feminine sleeves will conceal the upper arms.

The lower part of the dress is slightly looser which balances out the difference in proportions between your upper and bottom half.

The Hourglass shape dress

The hourglass body shape is defined by a large bust, smaller waist and feminine hips.

Your perfect dress should showcase these assets. Therefore figure-hugging, bodycon dresses look best, along with integrated shapewear styles.

The deep neckline on this style perfectly enhances your decolletage without revealing too much at the same time.

EXTRA TIP: THE RIGHT UNDERWEAR

Smart shapewear smooths the silhouette in targeted places.

Our Shape Collection from Manon Baptiste cleverly offers dresses with integrated shapewear so you can feel extra confident whenever you slip into one. The only thing you need to do is put it on and you’re good to go.

The right bra is essential as well: Take your time to find your perfect size and fit. The correct bra does wonders. Wear the wrong bra and you can easily ruin any beautiful dress. Thankfully we live in a time where opting for functionality doesn’t mean you need to compromise on style, so we can wear lingerie that is as practical as it is chic.
